Techniques of Kerouac's

In "Essentials of Spontaneous Prose," Kerouac implements his style of "blowing" the words onto the paper in an undisturbed manner. Kerouac explains his directions for literary prose in a way that seems like a one-on-one, philosophical conversation. He implements this ‘undisturbed flow' by using run-on sentences and using dashes which helps connect the ideas with one another. Kerouac says, "Nothing is muddy that runs in time and to laws of time---Shakespearian stress of dramatic need to speak now in own unalterable way or forever hold tongue—no revisions" (Kerouac 57). It is evident here that Kerouac's ideas are all connected through his run-on sentence structure approach.
