AIDS and HIV Awareness
On October 30, 2006, I attended the Women HIV/AIDS prevention seminar located in the science and research building. This event started at 5:00pm, and it was hosted by the Sister Love, Inc. The speaker was a representative from Sister Love, Inc named Nairobi Moss. The Women HIV/AIDS prevention seminar was about how we as African American's can help educate each other on the HIV/AIDS pandemic. It also was about how to prevent these diseases, and how it affects us in the Atlanta University Center (AUC) and all over the world if we don't change our bad habits.
In the seminar, Nairobi Moss gave out vital information to the students of the AUC about HIV/AIDS in Georgia. One of the shocking facts that she gave us was that 64% of AIDS cases in Georgia are of African Americans. AIDS is the leading cause of death for African American women ages 20-44. Moss also stated that 2%-9% of AIDS cases come from mother-to-infant transmission. The percentage is low......
