Due to the desire of wanting more satisfaction of our needs through these materials, humans are subjected to pain and suffering. Nevertheless, these same obsessions prevents a man from finding his true self, his soul, that knows the truth about a man's feelings and actions. "All we are is the result of what we have thought: it is founded on our thoughts, it is made up of thoughts. If a man speaks or acts with pure thought, happiness follows him, like a shadow that never leaves him" ( Burtt, 52).
