The method of management is changing substantially. Therefore, managers must recognize the four functions of management. They are planning, organizing, leading, and controlling. The four functions of management are needed in a new business that is just starting (Bateman, Snell, 2007).
In today's society, managers need to engage in planning (Buhler, 1998). The key is to conduct strategic planning. Planning is the goals to be achieved and deciding in advance the appropriate actions needed to achieve those goals (Bateman, Snell, 2007). Planning activities include analyzing current situations, anticipating the future, determining objectives, and determining the resources needed to achieve the organization's goal.
