For the art project in this class, I visited The Philadelphia Museum of Art. It is located at the west end of the Benjamin Franklin Parkway in Philadelphia's Fairmount Park. It is one of the most outstanding and largest museums of Art in United States. It was founded in 1876 in conjunction with the Centennial Exposition. This museum is basically formed and grew out of the Great Exhibition of 1851 in London. Originally, this museum was a collection of the Pennsylvania Museum and School of Industrial Art. Collectively, this is now known as the "The Art Museum." The museum is about 121 years old, and it first opened its doors to the public of the United States back in 1877.
For the most part of the century, it is known that the McIlhenny family held very special and important relationship with the museum. The head of the family, Henry P. McIhenny was the first curator from 1939 1964 and then he sat as the chairman of the board in 1976 until his deal in 1986. Upon his......
