The ‘Boudiccan Revolt of A.D.60 ’ is seen as momentous event in British history. Dramatised through Hollywood productions and enthusiastic historians, the line between what is seen as history and legend has been blurred and the enigmatic character of Boudicca herself has been glorified into an infamous female hero. Though this abundance of material on Boudicca and her inspired revolt, one must look carefully at the credibility of these texts, as the only two existing primary sources that give light to the Boudiccan Revolt are two Classical Roman ‘historians’. Primarily one must review the conveyed character of Boudicca and the events of ‘revolt’ of A.D.60 and then explore the lives and writings of the two men, Dio Cassius and Tacitus, who in their words conceived the only remaining records of the events surrounding her existence, this creates problems when trying to assess the factual events which occurred during the ‘Boudiccan Revolt.’
