Teaching To Me
Eye color is genetic. Hair color is genetic. It is my belief that, or at least in my case, teaching is genetic. I come from a long line of educators, some now retired, some still hanging around the district. A few have tried to convince me that there are other occupations besides teaching, but not in my book.
I have always been drawn to children with special needs. This semester I have been spending some time interning in a LIFE class unit at Luna Elementary. The experience has solidified my desire to work with challenged students.
I have been accepted to Sam Houston State University and plan to attain my education degree. Afterwards I plan to return to Garland Independent School District, where I have grown up, in the fall of 2011. Through the Elementary Teaching Internship program that I am currently in and have been for two years, I will sign a contract in April promising me a job when I come back.
