When it comes to candidates in the 2008 presidential election, Senator Barack Obama is at the top of my list. Barack Hussein Obama was born August 4, 1961, and is the junior United States Senator from Illinois and a candidate for the Democratic nomination in the 2008 presidential election. He is the fifth African American Senator in U.S. history, and the only African American currently serving in the U.S. Senate. Senator Obama was born to a white American mother and a black Kenyan father, Obama grew up in culturally diverse surroundings. He lived for most of his childhood in the majority-minority U.S. state of Hawaii and spent four of his pre-teen years in the multi-ethnic Indonesian capital city of Jakarta. Senator Obama is the candidate that, to me, braches out to even the republican party for an equal goal and so that they are on equal grounds.
