Language is important in every culture. Language is the way cultures communicate with other members, a method of passing down traditions, way to share values, and teach one another. Throughout the world there is many different languages, today I will focus on Hungarian. I will take an in-depth look at the history of the Hungarian language, their verbal style: are they direct/indirect, elaborative/succinct, personal/contextual, and instrumental/affective. I will also look at their language patterns: who communicates with whom, favored topics, and favored interactions, level of meaning and patterns of organization.
History of Language
The Hungarian Language or Magyar is the universal language spoken in Hungary. Since it is a Finno-Ugric rather than an Indo-European language, it has practically no resemblance to such commonly spoken languages such as English, French, Spanish or German (Gall, 187).
