Motivation can occur differently in each and every one of us. There are a lot of factors that can affect the level of individual motivation in the workplace. Also, there are several different ways in which a person can motivate oneself and others to be productive and stay productive in the workplace which can spill over to other areas in life outside the workplace.
I think some of the motivation that has to occur in the workplace in order to be productive has to come from the inside the individual first before any outside stimulus or stimuli can increase the level of motivation. The internal motivation to be productive in the workplace for me is pride in my work. I have pride in the work that I do and cannot perform less than 100% at my job which is why most of the time I give more than 100% because even though the task might not be the greatest, I know that I will be evaluated by upper management and the quality of my work has to speak for itself so that is my number one......
