Kurt Cobain, a major celebrity around the world, is best known as the lead singer, songwriter and guitarist of the grunge rock band Nirvana. Cobain who was born in 1967, was born in a small town 140km from seattle, to a cocktail waitress and a mechanic. Cobain soon moved to Aberdeen. Kurt Cobains life took a drastic turn when his parents split up when he was 7. Cobain later cited that he 'never felt loved or secure again.He became increasingly difficult, anti-social and withdrawn after his parent's divorce. Cobain also said that his parent's traumatic split fueled a lot of the anguish in Nirvana's music. When Cobain was eleven he heard and was captivated by the Sex Pistols and after their self-destruction Cobain and friend Krist Novoselic continued to listen to the wave of British bands including Joy Division.
