On the basic of the story" The Tomorrow –Tamer" as well as a picture of a pipeline construction, I wrote an assay on the culture-clash that usually comen with the "civilization" of a Third World village, and its possible consequences.
A cultural- clash is not as a matter of course and needs an activator to get the ball rolling. In the story "The Tomorrow-Tamer" Margaret Laurence deals with this point - the beginning of civilization, which is also visible in the pipeline photo, where the reader is shown an image of the change and the disharmony between nature and modern inventions.
The simple life in the village Owurasu in Margaret Laurence's story is affected by traditional values, religion, its own social structure and harmony, which are the opposite aspects of civilisation and culture-clash. The villagers have an every-day life and obey the elders' instructions. This way of life, which is orientated around nature, is put to the test by the start of the bridge building.......
