A brief history
Our history of the War on Terror begins on September 11th, 2001, in the hours following the attacks on the World Trade Center and the Pentagon.
The US responded to the attack through War on terror.
The motivation for the attack was due to US foreign policy bias for Israel in Israeli-Palestinian conflict and US government support for other oppressive regimes in the Middle East.
Terrorism, defined: The actual or threatened use of violence for political goals, directed not only against the victims themselves but also against larger, related groups, of a scope often transcending boundaries.
War on Terror, historical usage of phrase: Refers to the attempts by Russian and European governments, and eventually the US government, to stop attacks by anarchists against international political leaders. Many of the anarchists described themselves as "terrorists", and the term had a positive valence for them at the time.
