Loss of Father-Son Relationship
“In the short term there may be winners and losers in this war that we all dread. But that never can, nor never will justify the suffering, pain and loss of life”- Mother Teresa. During the holocaust, many people faced difficult experiences which resulted in the loss of life, relationships and faith. Many of these losses were family deserting family; Husband deserting wife; son deserting father. This theme is displayed in “Night” by Elie Wiesel. “Night” is based on surviving the holocaust, even if it meant to lose your family. Wiesel demonstrated this idea with the characters Elie, Rabbie Eliahu’s son and God. All three characters lost their father-son relationship. Rabbie Eliahu’s son lost his father; Elie lost his father, Shlomo; God lost his sons, the Jews. All of these events of cruelty are aggravated by the conditions the prisoners are forced to endure. In order to save themselves, these sons sacrifice their father and the god......
