Lucy Exhibit Paper
After going through the first few rooms that described the Ethiopian culture and showed Ethiopian artifacts, I was pretty excited to finally enter the room where the Lucy fossils were being held. I have to admit that before going to the museum I wasn’t too eager to see the fossils- I just didn’t see why they were such a big deal. However once I was actually inside the rooms looking at various pieces of history and watching the videos about how the archeologists discovered Lucy, my outlook on the whole exhibit changed and the tension had definitely built up in me when I was entering the final room containing the fossils. I wasn’t expecting to feel any excitement or any other emotion upon seeing Lucy, but when I saw the fossils lying down in the glass case, I was definitely mesmerized for a few seconds. It hit me that these are the actual fossils that were discovered and not just their models, and how, as the adage goes, this is a once in a lifetime......
