It is a painting of a girl by Pablo Picasso. Her head is positioned in the middle of the painting whilst her body is off centre. The model faces to the right and her body is slightly turned. It seems as though her arms are behind her and she is leaning against something like the back of a chair or a table. With bland face she is staring the void in front of her.
There is yellowish light on her face coming from left side. At the same time her left chest is lit by much colder light. This gives an impression of two different light sources like faint gas lantern and moonlight. This makes her glow and gives her transparency and dream like essence. It also lights up narrow area behind her changing the colour of background from grey to indigo. Lighting magnifies the overall impression of coolness.
There is a wide tonal range with narrow range of colours. Impression of rough surface is brought on by linear brushwork and runny colour in the background. Together......
