Vincent Van Gogh (1853- 1890) is considered one of the most famous Post-Impressionist painters. He start working as an art dealer and had a successful career until he was rejected by his first love, Eugenie. This disappointment marked and pushed him to religion, in which he thought he found his vocation. Those early feelings inspired him later in his art.
His life, his feelings, his thoughts, are related in a large correspondence with his brother Theo.
Theo was one of the most important persons in Vincent’s life. He supported him financial and emotionally.
In a letter sent by Vincent to his brother in December, 1881 he mentioned that he start painting, and he was very excited about that:
Theo, I am so very happy with my paintbox, and I think my getting it now, after having
drawn almost exclusively for at least a year,......
