The Face of Race
The Congress of Racial Equality (CORE) was formed in 1942 with the vision to end segregation. They believed in peaceful methods to protest for rights of African Americans. The group raised awareness within black communities about equality and racial issues. They believed in making a strong statement by standing together in unity.
African-American soldiers fought for equal rights during World War II. They were segregated from white soldiers and were denied certain privileges such as bearing arms.
