It was a dark cold weary night, not a sound could be heard yet, the howling wind was deafening. I couldn’t help to think how this stranger came an suddenly changed my life. I was his teacher and he my student, and yet we shared this bond that was unbreakable. It wasn’t that long ago that he had first entered my class, he was different to the rest, very different. Not that he was the ‘quite one’ or the ‘geeky nerd’ that couldn’t make any friends but his difference was the most outstanding, the most evident. It wasn’t his personality or attitude that people disliked, it was his race!

I remember that day vividly, as he walked down the corridor. He was all alone… the students kept a distance and just stopped and stared, but he proudly stood tall. He was the first of his kind at this school. I mean to say, this was defined as a ‘white’ school and never before in the 20year history of the school has any......
