“Kwanzaa and Me: A Teacher’s Story” by V.G. Paley is a great literary read for an understanding of how to teach in an integrated classroom. This book is about the dialogue that should be available between teachers and parents, students and teachers, and colleagues. This book provides ideas about how to create a multicultural atmosphere in an integrated classroom. Paley does a wonderful job obtaining feedback and solutions from fellow teachers and parents in hopes to create a community environment for her students.

This book illustrated to me how a teacher can include all of her students in the learning process. I have an understanding that it is very important for each student’s culture to be taught and learned in the classroom. This allows each student to feel included and important because one culture is being forced on them. “There is so much to find out about people.
