On March 19, 2003, project Iraqi Freedom commenced, this was the beginning of what is now known as the Iraq War. The mission was to capture and disarm Saddam Hussain and on December 13, 2003 on a farm near Tikrit, they did just that. Some were already starting to conclude that America was prevailing in the fight against insurgents, but alas, this was spoken too soon and heading into mid 2004 foreign fighters known as al-Qaeda had renewed the insurgency. Four private contractors working for Blackwater USA were ambushed and their bodies mutilated, the media got news of the incident and this is where my focus begins. Even though after February 4, when Paul Wolfowitz announced more than 15,000 troops would be pulled out of Iraq by next month and continuing there after, the figures just weren’t adding up. If the army is indeed pulling out of the war, military spending should follow, but on the contrary while 2004 estimates point to about 80 billion, 2005 tops over 100 billion, and 2006......
