There are problems with the elementary education system. There are children with physical disabilities, yet none mentally challenged that are not taught with a teacher and curriculum to meet their developmental needs. Because of my personal experience with the elementary education system, having a child with cerebral palsy, I am convinced that the reduction of mainstreaming classes would be harmful to any child trying to complete any elementary grade.
While attending various parent teacher meetings and group meetings compiled of school officials and parent teacher associations board members there have been announcements of budget cuts and reduction of staff for certain groups. One of the main concerns was to reduce the staff and assistance for the classes that were created for the children with disabilities.
