Woodstock Festival 1969 was 3 days packed with music, people, and free spirits. The ‘concert’ was held on Mr. Mick Yasgur’s farm in Woodstock NY. While it had originally been intended as a semi-large concert, Woodstock soon turned into a huge affair; and it ended up having around 500,000 attendees. Several popular artists of the day performed there, and their songs shared a common theme of opposition to the Vietnam War. The drug usage among the concert-goers was phenomenal. In fact, one of the concert-goers mentioned a term that has since been generally applied to many occasions: “if you can remember Woodstock, you probably weren’t there”. Since then, Woodstock Festival ’69 has long been remembered as one of the massive movements of the counterculture.
The song is written from the view of a person who is headed towards Woodstock. Though the singer, Joni Mitchell, is a woman, the song could be referring to either a woman or a man. Though the fact that it is left up to......
