During the development of the ancient cities, their way of life and the social communities were very advanced for their time. Before they became these very complex cities, they were small villages full of relatives. Eventually they became what scholars now call “temple communities.” There was a hierarchy, scribes and bureaucrats, workers and slaves. The majority of the people had a set of laws called The Law Code of Hammurabi.
Cities started to form when the farmers and surrounding urban societies started producing agriculture in large quantities. “Increasing food production thus led to larger and more complex human societies.”(p.54 West in The World) Sharing with relatives spread to trading with different people. A lot of the a farmers would give to the hierarchies to insure protection where ever needed. Since most of the cities were built with large wall to surround them, this was a way to protect the cities from outside invaders and any flooding. To keep social......
