For the past many years biotechnology has witnessed many developments in various fields such as DNA technology. There have been many breakthroughs in this field and one of them has come to use in genetically engineering crops such as tomato, soy, corn, potatoes, rice, cotton, and canola. Scientists are constantly trying to create more effective ways of growing crops and trying to make them more efficient. However, along with the advantages of genetically modified foods come the disadvantages. There are many concerns about genetically modified foods. Most concerns are of environmental hazards, human health risks and economical issues. Before the widespread introduction of genetically modified crops there is an obvious need for a significant number of carefully controlled trials to prevent such hazards.
