However, even with all of our advances, and progression, our society is becoming increasingly dependant on the consumption of alcohol. Proof of this is everywhere. If you have ever watched the Super Bowl or any other televised event, you’ve seen that alcohol is advertised most. Billboard signs make drinking look carefree and cool. Even some physicians have endorsed that a moderate consumption of alcohol can be considered healthy. It is ironic that the thing that causes our economy to thrive is also a leading cause of mental retardation and other serious birth defects; commonly known as Fetal Alcohol Syndrome or FAS.
