Shakespeare’s Romeo & Juliet, directed by Baz Luhrmann displays a diversity of different conflicts.
The most understandable being the conflict between the two families, the Montague’s and the Capulet‘s. Essentially this family conflict opens up the doors for a variety of additional conflicts which take place in the movie. Conflicts such as physical conflict, inner conflict and relationship conflict.

All these conflicts are represented in a different way through the use of techniques. Techniques which guide as to a more clear understanding of the arising conflicts and the consequences of these conflicts.

Right from the start of the movie, Shakespeare lets us as the audience know that there will be conflict throughout the movie (play). This is shown to us by the language techniques used in the first scene (the prologue) to resemble the Elizabethan society. In the prologue, it states “from ancient grudge breaks to new mutiny”, “where civil blood makes civil hands......
