t could be said that the reason for so many different civilizations is that the Native Americans came into the Western Hemisphere from Asia via the Bering Strait land bridge more then 25,000 years ago in a series of migrations. From Alaska they spread east and south. The vast size of North America caused them to separate into different tribes occupying several regions of the continent, over time each tribe developed their own language different from one another. Different geographic regions define and delineate tribes. There any many differences between all Indian tribes, several examples can be made. For the Indians of the Northeast area, the trees of the forest were the primary material for shelter, tools and fuel, and the animals of the forest were the primary food source. But the Northeast Woodland Native Americans were not solely hunters and gatherers, but also fishermen and farmers.
