AIDS is a very dangerous disease that I have not learnt much about. Some new information that I learnt about AIDS while doing research for this report is that AIDS is actually a severe HIV infection. I was also surprised at how many people in the world have AIDS. To me AIDS seems like a pretty easy disease to prevent just by practicing safer sex, not doing any drugs which may cause any sort of needle sharing yet there are so many people suffering from such a horrible disease. I also learnt that there are only a few types of drugs available to cure AIDS and they are called anti-retroviral drugs which consist of nucleoside analogue and reverse transcriptase inhibitors but the medication only covers up some of the symptoms and slightly extends the persons life span but does not get rid of the virus. I have also learnt that AIDS is a very crippling disease that without medication would leave a person very disabled and in pain since the cells are being destroyed......
