The name “George Gershwin” brings many things to mind. It reminds us of greatness, hard work, and a time of inspiration and innovation. George Gershwin was an amazing man. He was a song writer, a performer, and a masterful pianist. His music was considered melodic and thrilling, not to mention the best of its time.
Music was George Gershwin’s life. He discovered music at the age of six while listening to a friend play the piano. At age twelve his mother purchased a piano for him and he was given lessons by Charles Hambitzer. At the age of fifteen, George left school to pursue a career in music. He began to compose music and published his first song in 1916.
As the years passed, George’s music became more and more recognized. In 1919, his first Broadway show ran for one hundred performances. For......
