Electron Microscope

An electron microscope is a type of microscope that uses electron beams to create an image of a specimen. Electron microscopes have much higher magnifications and resolutions compared to light microscopes due to the size difference between electrons and photons used in electron and light microscopes respectively.

In contrast to a light microscope, which uses glass lenses to focus light, an electron microscope makes use of electrostatic and electromagnetic lenses to focus electrons onto a fluorescent screen and thus controlling the illumination and imaging of the specimen. The photographs of the specimens viewed with an electron microscope are called electron micrographs. In order to control the magnification of the electron microscope, different wavelengths of electromagnetic radiation are used. Increasing the magnification in the electron microscope results in an increase in the amount of visible detail. Electron microscopes require a vacuum inside them as......
