Eric Clapton is considered by many to be the greatest guitar player that ever lived. Touring with numerous bands and playing numerous music genres, Clapton, is one of the most prolific guitarists ever. Therefore I found it very strange that an artist like Clapton, who is a legend and icon to today’s musicians, would openly admit being influenced by Robert Johnson. This seems to be almost like sharing the byline with someone who wasn’t, directly, involved with something, thereby diminishing the creativity of the person who actually was involved. Robert Johnson did some important things, but he certainly never wrote any of Clapton’s songs, taught him how to play, or anything directly related to the majority of Clapton’s work. But whatever, that’s his beef and he’s entitled to it. Eric is quoted saying Robert Johnson was “The most important blues musician who ever lived” and was so influential to the artist that Clapton has a composed......
