Answer me this; what is the key to happiness? Through my short, yet eventful life, I have yet to find an acceptable answer to this question. Some say “love is all you need.” But what is love exactly? Love has been defined as the soul’s recognition of its counterpart in another. As corny as that sounds, it’s as good an answer as any other. What is it about that four-letter word that is the “cure-all”? Is it the comfort of always having someone an arms-length away? Is it the sex? What is it?
When you sit down and actually think about it, the definition of love is a relatively new thing. Only a few hundred years ago (not even), did courtship and marriage first appear. It used to be you got “married” because that’s just what you did. The main focus in most cases was prosperity, whether it was over a farm, a business, or even an empire. This lovey-dovey bullshit is new. Yet some claim that love and romance has been around forever......
