Emile Durkheim was born on April 15, 1858. He is considered as one of the founding fathers of sociology and an early supporter of solidarism. Emile Durkheim’s father, grandfather, and great-grandfather had all been rabbis. Emile decided early that he too, would become a rabbi, therefore follow in his family’s footsteps. He studied Hebrew, the Old Testament, and the Talmud. He soon turned away and decided that he did not was to follow his family’s footsteps into being a rabbi. He wanted to lead an entirely different life. Much of the work he did was devoted to demonstrating that religious experiences came from social things rather than divine factors. Even though he did not choose to follow his family tradition to become a rabbi, he did not sever ties with his family. Throughout his lifetime he gave many lectures, and he had published many of his sociological studies works, on subjects such as education, crime, religion, suicide and a lot of other aspects of society.
