Abstract
Summary of a study done by David G. Winter (1987) entitled, "Leader Appeal, Leader Performance, and the Motive Profiles of Leaders and Followers: A Study of American Presidents and Elections". Study focuses on various models for a leader’s appeal and performance. There are three leader traits and leader-follower interaction models, and leader performance which are assessed with data on the motive profiles of American presidents.

Introduction
Many people define presidential greatness to be Abraham Lincoln or Franklin D. Roosevelt. Both of which bear a mixture of wisdom, flexibility, and great logic which we determine their greatness to be based upon (Winter, 1987). The study presents data on psychological characterisitcs of American presidents and American soceity from the 1780's to 1960's (Winter, 1987).
