I think that the biggest influence in the industry circumstances would be the negative understanding of RU486. Pro-lifers and antiabortionist argued that the RU486 is a poison which kills the growing unborn human being and is not so safe that it could generate any adverse effect to pregnant women as well. Despite criticisms, the FDA had shown little inclination to reduce the time required for licensing new drugs, and the politically sensitive aspects of RU486 were unlikely to speed the process.
I also think that Roussel should consider the economy aspect, such as expenditure for introduction of RU486 and the cost of R&D. If the cost would be high to get the license from FDA or if Roussel spent a lot of money to invent this new product, RU486, it would be possible that the price of RU486 increases.
