Today, George and I just came to a new ranch in Soledad. We both come from, ...uh, where was it? Oh, yeah, that's right; Weed, where we worked at another ranch. It was mid-morning when we got settled in our new place. As i write this, i smell Candy's ancient dog, i'm sitting on one of the many bunk beds i see in this whitewashed walls, unpainted, floor, and small, square windows room. We saw the old man swamper the Boss, Curley, Slim and Carlson, and that purty lady. She was so purty, i wanted to touch her, since i love to pet nice-looking things, but she was married to Curley. He's the jealous type. He even tried to pick a fight with me, thinking that i knew where his wife went. i don't like people like that because i don't want trouble. Slim and Carlson seems to be really nice workers. Slim even wants me and George on his team. i thought we wouldn't get on any team when we talked to the boss. "No, he ain't, but he's sure a hell of a good worker. Strong as a bull," (Steinbeck 22).......
