One of the big disputes between Senators John McCain and Barack O'bama this election year deals with the future of our nation’s healthcare. While both sides’ improvement plans have their merits both candidates dispute the implications of the others proposed policies. McCain’s side argues that because O’bama would give people the chance to sign up for insurance through a government-run program, many employers would simply channel their workers into the program rather than paying for private insurance. That would mean more Americans subject to government rules and regulations. Obama’s side, meanwhile, argues that the McCain plan would lead employers to drop coverage because he changes the tax treatment of health benefits.
