I observed that plants on a desk next to a computer and a window are leaning towards the light from the window. Do the plants lean because they respond to the light as a food source? Can the plants get chemicals to them through the glass? Are they just leaning because they are sick? Are the plants trying to get away from some radiation that the computer might put out? I observed the plants leaning, I asked questions about why the plants would lean, now I hypothesize (an educated guess), and predict. If I grow three plants on a motorized turntable with light on one side, and grow three plants that are stationary with light on one side, then I should see a difference or change in the direction the plants are leaning. By using the Scientific Method I can organize my data to observe, question, hypothesize, predict, and experiment to compare results.
