Trying to remember what life was like before 9/11 is hard, but there are some clear differences between then and now. Our culture and society has changed immensely since the attacks. Following 9/11, and to this day, Americans all of a sudden became instilled with a false sense of patriotism. Instantaneously citizens who hadn’t thought about their country or cared about politics or world issues began flying American flags any place they could fit one. Slogans like ‘There’s only one’ and ‘These colors don’t run’ were everywhere- and for what? We had all been Americans before, but not until we are all attacked did we actually care about each other. Until then, we had been living life and looking out for ourselves. Keeping busy, working hard, and generally not caring too much about what was happening outside of our personal lives. There are exceptions to this idea of course, but all in all I feel like we were overconfident that we were safe, sound, and that no......
