When I think about the word literature I want to stop and really think of what it means to me. The word has many meanings; however, what classifies a piece of work literature? This is the question of the day. In my mind it is something that can be traced to a particular time period, style, form, and other things of this nature. All literature also has a meaning, whether it is to describe the desires of one’s heart or the conditions and environment that someone lives in. Literature tells a story. Not just in the writing but the time period that it comes from, the writer, the style, the format, all these things make a piece of work literature in my opinion. It is true the definition of literature changes and evolves it is a vary value laden word these days—meaning there is opinions attached to the word.
