The last samurai is a film about a Captain Nathan Algren. A former American soldier who fought in the 7th Calvary against the Indians was renowned a hero by his victorious campaign. He however suffered traumatizing flash backs for slaughtering hundreds of Indian men, women, and children; something he regrets and haunts him for the rest of his life and causes him into drowning the rest of his life into an alcoholic ruin. Although he didn’t order the acts he took part in them. Because of his now celebrity status he is asked and payed by his former general to fight against the rebellious Samurai who is stopping a wealthy Japanese man from building his railway tracks. Whilst fighting the samurai he is captured and taught the way of the samurai and becomes samurai. He then fights against who he was once fighting for; this time not for money but for honour.
