In March of 1993, I became a father for the fourth time. Little did I know that she would be born with a severe life threatening condition? The doctors did not give our daughter much hope, and my first experiences with severe depression set in. Although, things are better today, I can only contribute Ashley’s and my progress on the Lords ever-sovereign love.
“Everything is just fine. The baby is doing fine.” I could remember the nurse saying. Our daughter was born. Excitement overcame me; I was I proud as any man could be. We later found out she was born without a left ventricle in her heart. The doctors told us her heart didn’t develop normally, and surgery was the only option for her. Soon, Ashley was taken to University Hospital Intensive Care Unit. While back at Oswego Hospital, my wife was told she could not leave until her doctor gave the clearance.
