The Cultural Revolution of China was a life changing event for the Chinese. Especially, if you were from an intellectual privileged background. Intellectual meaning well educated. Privileged meaning you were able to procure yourself a good life from your education. It was a hard life for people with this background. This was attested in the book “Balzac and the Little Chinese Seamstress” by Dai Sijie. The author himself lived through the Cultural Revolution. He was able to reflect what it was like living in China during this era in this nice little tale.
