This is especially true in 'Macbeth' by William Shakespeare with the death of Duncan helping to better understand the issues of power, greed and death which are all evident in todays society also.

Power is a major issue highlighted throughout Macbeth but especially with the death of Duncan. Lady Macbeth wants Macbeth to have the throne. Because the only way he will get this power is to kill Duncan, this is what she does. The twist shows the lengths that someone will go to in order to get what they want. Shakespeare has used Duncan's death to show the reader that although people want power, killing someone is not the best way of doing it.

Another issue in which Shakespeare highlights is greed. Both Lady Macbeth and Macbeth are very greedy people. Their actions are a result of this and as greed gets the better of them, Duncan is killed. Shakespeare is showing the......
