According to Susan B. Anthony, “Cautious, careful people, always casting about to preserve their reputation and social standing, never can bring about a reform. Those who are really in earnest must be willing to be anything or nothing in the world’s estimation.” Susan B. Anthony expresses that people who care too much about their reputation and about how others feel about them, can never bring about a reform or change for the better of society. In other words, people who want to achieve a goal, reform, or change must be willing to accept the fact that no one or very few people will follow and agree with them. Basically, these people must be able to stand up for what they believe in, even if no one else does. These types of people, according to Susan B. Anthony, are the only ones that can bring about a change. I completely agree with this quotation, and find that it is supported by several novels.
