As we see both authors have different opinions on what two different opinions on what the concept of Ebonics is and how it came to be as a language. We have Michael Gomez who says that the creation of Ebonics was more of a way for enslaved Africans of different ethnicities to come together as whole and be able to have a commonality. On the other side of this topic we have Smitherman who says and shows the creation of Ebonics was more of a way to have the “creolization” of Africans, meaning more like keeping them as an alien community to the rest of the population. These two are very valuable opinions and can be both very true. I believe they have their right to think the way they do because society has also lead us to believe that each of those opinions are constructive.
