Archimedes was a Greek mathematician, physicist, engineer, inventor and
Astronomer. Not many people knew the details of his life, but he is considered to be one
of the leading scientists in “classical antiquity”. Archimedes has had many advances in
his life among them physics, hydrostatics and the explanation of the principle of the
lever. He’s credited with designing innovative machines, including siege engine also the
screw pump that is named after him. Archimedes gave a remarkably accurate
approximation of Pi.
Archimedes was also able to use “infinitesimals in a way that is similar to modern
Integral calculus”. He also gave the square root to the outside of a circle as being 3. In the
Quadrate of the Parabola, Archimedes proved that the area enclosed by a parabola and
a straight line is 4/3 multiplied by the area of a triangle with equal base and height. He
