In a recent editorial in The New Times, an undisclosed author touched on a subject that not many people want to speak about for a number of reasons, this topic would be the drinking age of 21 and the growing problem of binge drinking for college students. To summarize this editorial, the author was very concerned that 130-college presidents wanted to reconsider the legal drinking age of 21. They think that if the drinking age is lowered than the underage drinking will go down cause of the easier access. Now where’s the logic in that?
In my experiences with underage drinking, no one drinks or parties cause it’s illegal or because they feel like a “rebel” breaking the law. Teens participate in underage drinking because they feel like they can’t have fun in a social environment with out the beer or alcohol.
