Legally Carrying on Campus - Concealed Carry Permit
Concealed Carry on College Campuses may allow students and staff to defend themselves in the event of a violent crime. While each school determines its’ own policy regarding weapons on campus, the issue of concealed carry has become popular as recent instances of violent crime on college campuses have increased. The Code of Ethics at University of Utah now allows students and faculty with a concealed carry permit to carry a gun on campus. (Associated, 2007) The arguments against and in favor of concealed carry on campuses are extensive. However, public concern that allowing guns on campuses will result in an increase of violence are unfounded. In fact, the opposite seems to be true.
